Alexandria, VA-Sears Optical and the Vision Council of America (VCA) have joined forces to promote greater public awareness about the seriousness of undetected vision problems in children. Their first collaboration took place in March during Sears Optical Family Eye Health Month.
More than 800 Sears Optical stores throughout the country held free vision screenings for children in their stores. Using VCAs promotional materials, Sears Optical hopes to encourage parents to bring their children in for regular comprehensive vision exams. Consultants are available in the vision centers and are encouraging parents to take their children for a doctor's exam. In addition, Sears is offering free eyeglass cleanings and adjustments for parents.
VCA's 'Check Yearly. See Clearly.' campaign was launched last year and is said to have been well received in the vision-care community. VCA plans to continue to work with Sears Optical throughout the year to promote eye health.
